Amalantrah: The Egg Beyond the Way explores one of the most enigmatic episodes in the magical work of Aleister Crowley: the Amalantrah Working of 1918 and the strange intelligence that emerged through its visionary sessions. Moving through trance, mediumship, symbolic communication, number, magical names, and the mysterious figure later known as Lam, Orion Delacroix examines the possibility that the Working opened a field of contact extending beyond conventional categories of spirit, imagination, and human consciousness.
From Roddie Minor’s role as medium and the appearance of the wizard Amalantrah to the recurring symbolism of the Egg, the number 729, Baphomet, the Magical Child, the Mountain, the Water, and the Lotus, the book follows a network of images that gradually develops into an initiatory architecture of contact. Rather than treating these visions simply as historical curiosities, Delacroix approaches them as components of a living oracle whose language operates through symbol, altered perception, and the destabilization of ordinary identity.
The investigation continues through the relationship between Amalantrah and Lam, asking whether they represent separate intelligences, different masks of the same current, or manifestations produced through a deeper continuum of visionary consciousness. Kenneth Grant’s later interpretation of Lam as an extraterrestrial or interdimensional gateway expands the inquiry further, placing Crowley’s 1918 experiments within a broader territory where occultism, non-human intelligence, and ritual contact begin to converge. The Egg Beyond the Way ultimately presents the Amalantrah Working as more than an episode in Crowley’s magical history; it becomes the birth of an interdimensional oracle, a system of contact whose symbols continue to suggest that consciousness may encounter forms of intelligence existing beyond the familiar limits of the human mind.
